BankID on a card

Using a BankID you can identify yourself digitally, both at Handelsbanken and at other companies and authorities.

With the cable in the card reader, your log-on card becomes a BankID.

Your log-on card incorporates a BankID, but only when the cable connects the computer and the card reader. You can then use it to log in to other sites which offer log-in with BankID. These include the Swedish Tax Agency, Insurance, the Swedish Social Insurance Administration, the Swedish Pensions Agency and pharmacies.

However, to be able to use your BankID, you must download the BankID security application and drivers for the card reader to your computer.

If you are already a customer and have downloaded the security program and driver, you can log in immediately.

How to get started

  1. If you don’t already have a log-on card, you must visit your branch office

    Your branch office will give you what you need to get started. You need to have a Swedish ID card to be able to order a log-on card with BankID.
  2. Select a PIN for your log-on card

    Before your card can be sent out, you need to go to the branch to choose a PIN code. The Bank will then send your log-on card by post.

  3. Install the security program and drivers

    To be able to use your BankID, you must install the BankID security application and drivers for the card reader on your computer.

Be aware of fraudulent behaviour. Logging in must always be on your own initiative. We will never contact you and prompt you to log in, ask you for or to enter codes. If you suspect that someone has got access to your codes, if you have lost your BankID card or lost your phone with Mobile BankID you must immediately block your BankID.
